Designer Ksenia Berkovich renovated the Vaughan house in a mix of contemporary and midcentury modern styles.
In the hardwood-paved kitchen/family room, a Vladikavkaz landscape painting by impressionist Chernitsky overlooks the Noguchi Table by Isamu Noguchi (1947) and the Carrara marble Tulip Table, designed in 1957 by Eero Saarinen.
The kitchen is the “beating heart” of the house, which is packed to the gills with cooking tools and personal artefacts, thoughtfully integrated behind clean white facades. The client, who loves cooking and appreciates a strong cup of coffee, says the kitchen “is certainly the most-loved and most-used room in the house.”
